So, I’m curious…what do you do with all of the Christmas cards you receive every year, once the holidays are over? In the past, I’ve tried to come up with ideas of storing, organizing or possibly displaying the cards, after all, most of them are so pretty, I can never seem to just toss them. Of course I don’t keep the ones from the orthodontist or the insurance agent, but I have a hard time discarding the beautiful photo cards that we receive from our family and friends. I love to see how all of my friends’ kids are growing each year, especially since many live far away and I don’t get to see them as often as I would like. Well in my search for ideas, as I was “Pinteresting” one day, I came across a very cute and simple craft to solve this problem…the annual Christmas Card book. And I do mean simple, anyone can make this, regardless of how crafty you may or may not be.
Once the books are done, you can either store them or display them on your coffee table every Christmas and browse through them. There are many different versions out there, you can truly make them as fancy or simple as you prefer. And of course if you don’t have time to or like to craft, this book is about as simple as it gets… just put all the cards through a 1-inch ring binder, tie some cute ribbons on the ring, and it’s done!

This one is more of a Christmas Art Journal, but you can include your Christmas cards in it as well. And again, you may embellish it as much or as little as you like.

I’m always at a loss as to what to do with Christmas cards. These are great idea! I love the idea of just binding them with binder rings (I don’t think I’d have time to tackle the stitched binding idea!).

What a neat idea! I have never done anything like that. I have used the cards as labels for all my Christmas decoration boxes and have also cut them up for my daughter to glue and craft with.

That’s an amazing idea! Cards get misplaced, lost, or all over the place.. this is a great way to keep them nicely together.

I believe you because I have cards for all occasions since I was born. My father kept them all for my sisters and , and we all still have them. And now I’ve done the same for my daughter, who is already 13!

I actually bring them into my work (library) and one of the ladies that works there makes bookmarks from them! This is a great idea for those extra special ones though!

This is a great idea. I absolutely love sending and receiving Christmas cards. Years ago I did keep a lot of them from one year to the next, but after a while, space becomes an issue (because I am a pack rat).

I have Christmas cards from when I was little. When I was younger one of my favorite things about dragging out all the Christmas decorations was going through all the old cards and reading everyones notes. My mother has them all packed away. They are there for me when I am ready. I have heard of people using old cards to make new cards. Since moving in with hubs and kiddo I have started to save Christmas cards again. This might be a good project for them, especially since photo cards are big these days.

We just put our cards into a box and put them in the closet. Used to display them but it was just a lot more work to take them down or they end up getting torn a bit where the tape pieces were.

I love the idea of Christmas Card books. I like to save everything anyways..why not do it in a crafty, attractive manner? This approach also makes it much easier to look back on all the memories.

I think it’s a smart idea to recycle them into a useful collection. We throw ours out unless there is an extra sentimental value attached. 🙂
